STORY

It’s been an unexpected journey.

I’ve always felt compelled to make things beautiful. My focus has shifted as I’ve grown, but the attention to detail and composition, the pursuit of proportion and style, have stayed consistent. Intensified. My professional background in photography and styling, in magazine journalism, in graphic design … sometime in recent history they collided with my side hustle.

I suppose it wasn’t even a hustle, at first. It was my husband and I, new to adult life, buying the worst house in the best neighbourhood… a house which should certainly have been torn down. But it wasn’t, and we didn’t. With a family of trades behind us, we repaired and restored and rebuilt our home, truly, from top to bottom, with our own hands, on a scant budget. (Read: no budget. It took us a decade.)

As we grew up and onward, we continued to invest in real estate, and fell in love with turning mediocre homes into more beautiful, more functional spaces.

Today, I feel incredibly honoured to work with other families and investors on re-imagining and renovating their own homes as well. It’s completely where my heart is. And particularly in these recent years, there’s no more important place to make amazing.

Let’s do this.

I am currently offering design consultation & project management services to a limited number of clients in 2022/2023.

On the socials, you’ll find a more personal side of me @theoppositeofyes, exploring life and wilderness across Canada with my family and friends. We live for hiking, paddling, camping, snowboarding and beach days… with a whole lot of toddler mayhem in between!
